This year I will be working on my honors dissertation project in which I will be analysing post seismic GPS data from the 2009 Dusky Sound earthquake. I am looking at applying a few simple models to the data and would like to use PyLith to do this. I would like to know how I could purchase or obtain a copy of the software to undertake this work. You can obtain it from http://www.geodynamics.org/cig/software/pylith. As a new user, I would suggest downloading a binary for your platform. On the website you will also find documentation and other training materials. As far as looking at Dusky Sound, you might want to contact Dr. John Beavan here at GNS if you don't already have the GPS data you need. Good luck with your modeling. Click on Software->PyLith to get to the main PyLith page. You will find binaries for various platforms (Current Release, Binaries), the user manual (under Documentation), and a link to the Crustal Deformation Modeling Tutorial from June (also under Documentation). We only ask that you cite CIG and the code used when you publish. You can download PyLith here: http://geodynamics.org/cig/software/pylith This link contains the tar ball, manual, and other links to help you get started on using PyLith, including an excellent online tutorial from June 2011. I see that you've joined the CIG-short mailing list - that's good for contacting fellow users with any problems you might have with using the code for your particular research. Good luck on the thesis! When you publish, we'd love to hear more of your work. Yours, Ariel Shoresh CIG, Administrator
