- CIG Workshop on Mathematical and Computational Issues in the Solid Earth Geosciences (Santa Fe Hilton, Santa Fe, NM, from 2008-09-15 01:00 AM to 2008-09-17 10:00 AM) — by Sue Kientz
- On Sept. 15-17, 2008, at the Santa Fe Hilton in Santa Fe, NM, this CIG workshop will bring together solid-earth geoscientists, mathematicians, and computational and computer scientists to focus on specific issues arising from a range of solid-Earth dynamics problems that have proven both difficult and critical for progress in studying and modeling the dynamics of the planet. These problems form the core activities for CIG and provide new challenges and opportunities in multiscale/multiphysics modeling and inference.
- 2008 Workshop for Advancing Numerical Modeling of Mantle Convection and Lithospheric Dynamics (UC Davis, Davis CA, from 2008-07-09 01:00 PM to 2008-07-11 03:00 PM) — by Sue Kientz
- Participants from the mantle convection and lithospheric dynamics communities will discuss scientific advances and, importantly, technical and scientific issues related to the quantitative modeling of the origin and evolution of the mantle-lithosphere system.
- 2008 Workshop on Numerical Modeling of Crustal Deformation and Earthquake Faulting (Colorado School of Mines, Golden, CO, from 2008-06-23 01:00 AM to 2008-06-27 10:00 AM) — by Sue Kientz
- Workshop on computational models addressing the seismic cycle across single and multiple events. The workshop blends science talks on case studies from particular faulting environments and on key rheological behavior with discussions of current obstacles to crustal deformation modeling.
- CIG Business Meeting (Parc 55 Hotel, Da Vinci Room (4th Fl.), 55 Cyril Magnin St., San Francisco, CA, from 2007-12-11 10:00 AM to 2007-12-11 12:30 PM) — by Sue Kientz
- You are invited to this public forum for members of the Geosciences community to discuss the future development of CIG over the next few years. Expect a major change in format this year, with presentations by chairs of CIG working groups and members of the Science Steering Committee. Reception; cash bar.
- Adaptive Mesh Refinement (AMR) Tutorial Workshop (Boulder, CO, from 2007-10-24 02:00 AM to 2007-10-27 10:00 AM) — by Sue Kientz
- This tutorial workshop hosted by CIG will be devoted to the technical aspects of the AMR method.
- CIG/SPICE/IRIS Computational Seismology (Jackson, NH, from 2007-10-09 01:00 AM to 2007-10-11 10:00 AM) — by Sue Kientz
- The CIG/SPICE/IRIS Seismology Workshop will be held October 9-11th, 2007, in Jackson, NH, at the Eagle Mountain House. It will be a joint meeting between European and American Seismologists to discuss current "hot topics": algorithm development, imaging developments, and the future goals of a united American-European scientific community. More information is forthcoming.
